Never on a Sunday...

OK, so I guess I never really set the ground rules and explained how this would all work.  So here it goes.  I'll Blog Monday - Friday (and maybe on Saturday), but never on a Sunday....maybe just because I like to sing the song, or maybe just because I need a day off...haven't decided.  Oh, and btw, if you people don't spread the word and I don't have more followers soon...the Blog is going away!  Be warned and be scared...be very scared.  So, as long as I am here, even though it's Sunday, let me give you a real quick somethin' somethin'.  Sunday....first day of the week?  last day of the week?  It's either the culmination of seven days...or the fresh start to seven new days....  and what to do? Do you sleep in, because it's the last time until...maybe Saturday, that you are going to be able to sleep in again....or do you get up early...kinda like a dress rehearsal for Monday.  Get up early, drink some coffee and read the paper.  OR, do you get up and go to church?  Here in the BIBLE BELT that we call T*E*X*A*S, most people go to church....they say it's to thank the Lord for what they have and to pray for things they need...but...really?  I'm going to say it, straight out, that I do not always go to church on Sunday.  Now, keep in mind that my brother is the priest here in Dallas (Greek Orthodox priests can get married, so when I talk about family members being priests...and there are many, they are mostly married...and allowed to be....) and my Dad is a priest and my oldest nephew (the one that follows my blog..unlike the other younger nephew who refuses to follow me (PHILLIP) and calls me an internet whore) is going to be ordained to the priesthood this Fall.  OK, so once again, I digress....like I was saying, I don't go to church every Sunday.  The non-Greeks that go to church (I spent about 6 months at the Methodist church when I was pissed at some people at my church) I really think that they go, just so that they can tell their co-workers that they were at church praising the Lord and being thankful for all their blessings...yeah right....when you go to the Methodist Church, or at least Lovers Lane Methodist Church on Northwest Hwy in Dallas....it's....it's kinda like being in the movie "Steel Magnolias"  Everyone is so sweet and nice to your face, but you know the second you turn around, daggers are flying in your back!  They're so sweet that you could get a tooth ache...totally fake and annoying.  On top of it, it's a money game.  The Greek priests always complain that no one donates much money when they tray is passed.  Truth of the matter, Greek people really don't care what you think about them and they are not going to make some huge donation in the tray to impress the person next to them....The Methodists (or at least the ones at this church) are really different.  $20's, $50's just flying into the tray...kinda like saying, "If you really loved Jesus you'd put more money in the tray."  It's really a - I AM A SUCCESSFUL TEXAS BUSINESS MAN AND I SUPPORT JESUS.  Lord.  Now the Greek church....different, but not without its faults.  So unlike the Methodist church where every seat is full when it starts...you know...the closer you are to the front, the closer you are to GOD and you are better than the guy behind you, because you got there first....UGH, I keep getting off track.  OK, the Greek church.  Not many people there when it starts.  Not big donors to the tray....it's all about the coffee hour.  It's SO WRONG!!!  Now keep in mind...I already told you that I do not go to church every Sunday, but if I DO go...I'm getting there when it starts.  To me, it's like a movie.  Would you really walk into a movie and hour into it?  NO.  The whole thing about Jesus accepts everyone, even at the eleventh hour...the Greeks really take advantage of that.  They have probably no knowledge of any other bible stories...but the whole eleventh hour one...they're good with it.  So bottom line, they come late....like I said, it's all about the coffee hour.  Greeks are known to love their coffee.  After all, if you've been to Greece you will know that it's a bunch of people sitting around drinking coffee and smoking.  Wonder why they have financial issues....they DON'T EXPORT SHIT because they're too busy sitting around drinking coffee and smoking.  Most people in Greece don't even go to church...coffee hour is 24/7.  AGAIN I digress....so Greeks and coffee hour.  The whole reason they do not donate much to the tray is because they spent all their money on a new pair of shoes....shoes to wear to the coffee hour.  So you get my point?  Lots going on, on Sunday.  For ME, it is the beginning of the week.  You SHOULD go to church (my Mother was good with guilt), and if you ARE going to go to church you BETTER get there on time.  From here on out, you will not hear from me on Sunday...come to church....you might see me (for sure NOT next Sunday as there is an ordination, and I have made a vow that after all the ordinations that I have had to sit through in my life, I will only go to FAMILY ordinations from this day forward)....if I'm not at church on Sunday, call me...we'll go have a fabulous brunch with bloody mary's!!!  Until next time...LOOK BUSY....JESUS IS COMING!!!!
